New hope for churches in Hatay province

TURKEY
Working with our partners in Turkey has been marked by major challenges in recent months. We are therefore all the more grateful that we have now been able to appoint a successor to the late project manager.

Turkey was once home to thriving Christian communities. Today, Christians, especially converts from Islam, often face intense social and family pressure. Rejection and open hostility are part of everyday life in many places.

AVC supports precisely these people. Our mission is to strengthen communities, accompany them in their work, and establish new communities together.

A dedicated team of partners works on the ground, especially in the coastal region around Antakya. The severe earthquake two years ago attracted international attention. AVC was also able to help at that time. Especially during this difficult time, many people came to faith, and new projects were launched, including some for children. However, these positive developments were overshadowed by the sudden death of our project manager.

After intensive prayer and joint consultation, Brother Illyas* was finally appointed as the new project manager. He comes from the immediate vicinity of the team and now leads our work in the region.

We are grateful that God has provided a new leader in this difficult field of work and that the work in Turkey is continuing. Our prayer is that people will grow in discipleship and be empowered to make disciples themselves.
