Hardworking Goats
The goats that are passed on help families secure their livelihoods and keep opening doors to share the faith. What began as a simple relief project has grown into an expanding network that has already encouraged and strengthened many MBBs (Muslim Background Believers) and their families.
The project combines practical help with the hope of the Gospel. It helps new house fellowships form and existing believers grow in their faith. Two additional goat barns have been built for two MBB families in villages in Gunung Kidul Regency. They are larger than the ones built previously and can house around 15 adult goats. Our partners gratefully report that the number of animals has already grown. The manure in particular generates good income. The soil in Gunung Kidul has lost much of its fertility through the excessive use of chemical fertilizers. Our Christian partner, a professor of agricultural science, has found that goat manure in particular »heals« the soil, and it is now in high demand.
We are praying that many more people will come to Christ through this project. In one of the families, the wife no longer wears a hijab and is being discipled by Pastor Y. Last December, her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter were baptized. All glory to God!
