A Place of Peace
A few days ago, a serious incident occurred on the grounds of a partner church in Peshawar: one of the church's security guards got into a violent altercation with a local security officer, and the guard lost his life.
Pastor H., who leads an apostolic ministry, immediately broke off a training session with church leaders to attend to the situation. In this predominantly Muslim region, it was especially important to him that this church remain a place of peace.
The situation was handled with great care and wisdom. The deceased man's family accepted the events with remarkable composure and respected the church leadership's decisions regarding how to approach the situation in a peace-seeking way.
The Muslim neighbors and local authorities also proved cooperative — by no means a given in a situation that could easily have led to serious legal consequences or even attacks on the church.
That same evening, the church leadership and part of the congregation gathered for a service of anointing and rededicated their building to God.
Our partner in Peshawar is convinced that prayer for peace in the neighborhood made a real difference. For this, he is deeply grateful to God and to the many who prayed.
