Parachute for children

Every fourth Ethiopian child is excluded from attending school for financial reasons and goes to work instead.

Within the framework of 20 sponsorship projects, we support more than 3000 children and their families. The sponsorships are a kind of "parachute" so that the children and their families do not fall unchecked into poverty and lack of prospects..

Through the sponsorships, we finance the school fees, supply the children with school materials and provide the obligatory school uniform. After finishing school, we take over the costs for vocational training or make it possible for the children to study with a scholarship, depending on their talents.

In the course of family assistance, we provide individual support and medical care as needed. In addition, we provide monthly food aid and regular supplies of hygiene articles. Self-help groups teach people how to manage their finances. By granting micro-credits, the children can put what they have learned into practice and take the first step towards self-employment.
