A long journey
Ali* came to Austria as a refugee from Afghanistan. There he heard the Gospel and became a Christian. His plan was to stay in Austria and build a new life there. But when his fiancée, Myriam, fell seriously ill in Afghanistan and suffered from uncontrollable bleeding, Ali prayed and asked the Lord what he should do. God gave him peace and clear guidance, and he decided to return to Afghanistan.
Myriam was deeply moved that Ali had made this sacrifice and returned to her. In Afghanistan, Ali was able to care for Myriam and even share the Gospel with her. Yet, despite her trust in God, the illness remained a challenge.
When the Taliban arrived, the two of them had to flee to Turkey. The church there welcomed them with open arms. Myriam grew in her faith and came to realize that Jesus heals. Through the prayers of the church, she put her complete trust in the Lord, and God miraculously healed her completely.
Although they couldn’t stay in Turkey, God opened the door for them to Greece, where we met them. We were so happy to see how their faith had grown. Today, Ali and Myriam lead a small fellowship in the refugee camp that meets weekly. We were deeply blessed to worship God and study the Bible with them and the new believers who have found Christ through them.
