High in the mountains

NEPAL
Traveling in Nepal means hardship and often hiking for days just to reach one the many remote mountain villages. This pushes travelers to their physical limits—despite the beautiful scenery.

Our partners traveled to the Himalayas, reaching an altitude of almost 4.000 meters above sea level to strengthen local believers and train them in discipleship. They also visited villages that had never heard the good news. They experienced joyful events, people who encountered Jesus, and sick people who were healed.

On the way, the team met a young Indian man who had traveled all the way to Nepal to find relief from his sins. His destination was a temple to which people from all over the world make pilgrimages. There, it is said, sins can be washed away by bathing in the holy water.

The team spoke with the young man, and the Holy Spirit revealed things about his life to them. The Indian man was astonished. »How do you know all of this?« he exclaimed in shock. »No one else knows that my business partner has cheated me.« This showed the man the deep love that Jesus, the Creator, has for him. In a short but powerful prayer, he gave his life to Christ.

In one of the other villages, the chief welcomed the group. He was searching in his heart to find answers. He had already read the Bible and was eager to know more about Jesus. The Nepalese explained the gospel to him, and he joyfully opened his heart to Jesus. Through the chief, the team was given the opportunity to visit the school.

People from all over the world come to this region of Nepal to find answers. They want to find out if there is a God who hears them and loves them. It is touching to see how they find what they are looking for and get to know the living God who welcomes them with open arms.
