Muslims make up the majority of the population in Burkina Faso, accounting for just over 60 % of the total population. For many years, the country was known for the peaceful coexistence of different religious and ethnic groups. This changed in the last ten years when Islamic terror from the northern neighbouring country of Mali invaded the country.
